 News and Annoucements

CODHA would like to highlight exceptional hygienists that are living and working in our community. We have chosen to start with Tiffany Foy to recognize the outstanding contribution she makes to the communities of Central Oregon.

Tiffany has been living in Bend and serving Central Oregon communities for the past 15 years. Tiffany earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Oregon Institute of Technology. Currently, she works for Advantage Dental as a Regional Community Expanded Practice Dental Hygienist. Her responsibilities include providing services to prenatal clients and their children at WIC sites in Deschutes County. Additionally, Tiffany provides on-site services at Head Start, relief nurseries, school-based health clinics, etc. Her favorite part of the job is working with children. "I love having the opportunity to empower parents and being a source of hope." She is very passionate about early childhood caries prevention. We asked Tiffany to tell us in her own words about her volunteering experience, “I have been volunteering with Kemple Clinic for over five years as well as Volunteers in Medicine, Healthy Beginnings, COCC Clinic, Project Connect and various 5ks that donate to local charities. I would volunteer more if I wasn't so busy with work right now!” When she's not working, Tiffany loves being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. She enjoys trail running, cycling, hiking, and practicing yoga as well as volunteering within her community. During dental hygiene school she had the opportunity to travel to Peru and provide dental services to underserved children in an orphanage. She hopes to do many more dental outreach trips and obtain a Masters (most likely in public health) in the future.

CODHA is delighted to have the support and assistance of this exception hygienist. Thank you for all you do to help Central Oregonians and your local component Tiffany. We are proud to award you this first spotlight recognition and free registration to the next CE course.

If you have an exceptional hygienist that you would like to see recognized in our next newsletter, please email us at codhainfo@gmail.com with your nomination and provide brief description of why they deserve this recognition and we will award them with FREE REGISTARTION to our next CE and highlight them in the next newsletter.

Volunteer Opportunities

Membership to ADHA is essential to the continued growth of our local component and for the promotion of our profession. One of the most important goals of CODHA is grow our membership numbers. It is essential for Central Oregon hygienists to join CODHA and ADHA to help grow our local community of hygienists and protect and promote our profession.

Oregon has a long and proud history of being on the most progressive states in regards to the expanded duties allowed by our state licensure. This is a fact that all Oregon hygienists should be proud of and excited to support.

Membership to ADHA has many benefits that can be utilized to help you grow professionally. If you have not yet renewed your ADHA membership for 2016 please do so now and check out the revamped ADHA website to ensure you are getting all of the benefits your membership offers.

If you aren’t yet a member of ADHA yet, a few minutes looking at the membership benefits page will hopefully provide some insight into all this great organization has to offer you as a professional member.
